Tempting His Mate ...by Savannah Stuart...review by Kathy

-Blurb-

Tempting His Mate (A Werewolf Romance)

NOVELLA length

She ran from him once…
Wild one night stands are not Ella Hayes’s style, but with her confidence at rock bottom after a devastating betrayal and her painful departure from her jaguar pride, who could blame her for falling into bed with a sexy wolf? She never thought she’d see him again. And never in her craziest dreams did she expect to come face-to-face with him on her first day with the Kincaid wolf pack. Sleeping with Asher had been one of the most intense experiences of her life—but now she wonders if they could have more.

He’s not letting her go again…

Tired of life as a lone wolf, shifter Asher has joined his cousin’s pack. The last person he expected to see was the sexy woman who ran out on him in the middle of the most incredible night of his life. The Ella he meets now is nothing like the wild, sensual woman he let his guard down with, but he likes both sides of the complicated female. But now somebody—or something—sinister is targeting Ella, and Asher moves quickly to get her under his roof and under his protection. Keeping the sexy female safe and proving they belong together are two missions he doesn’t plan to fail. Because this time, he’s playing for keeps.

Crescent Moon Series, #3
Author Note: Tempting His Mate is the third story in the Crescent Moon series but can be read completely as a stand-alone.

I am delving more into some of the paranormal romances. This is a novella. The author is Katie Reus writing as Savannah Stuart. I was intrigued by the blurb on this and having previously read Katie thought it would be a good book.

I found the main characters really likeable. I thought I would have an issue with the length of the book but it was well written and the characters had a depth to them. I loved that Asher was all alpha but wasn't THE Alpha. He knew that he had a past and that Ella did too. He wasn't afraid to let her have her own way sometimes, but was dominant in the bed room. The book is hot. I loved that the first time they saw each other the chemistry was jumping off the page.

Though she tried to stop herself, her gaze trailed down his beautifully sculpted body and landed on the impressive display between his legs. Holy mother of...
As he cleared his throat, she looked up and felt her face flame at his almost arrogant grin. "You all right?" he asked.
She nodded and tried not to melt into a puddle at the sound of his deep voice. She could totally get off to that voice alone. Clearing her throat, she said, "Yes. Thanks for what you did,but I had it under control."
His dark eyebrows raised a fraction and his wicked grin grew even wider. "I'm sure you did, but no one treats a female like that in my presence and gets way with it. Ever."
"My name's Asher, " he rumbled in that deep voice and she realized she'd been blatantly staring.
"I'm Ella." And she wasn't going anywhere, she realized. Not until she got a taste of this sexy male. Something told her one taste wouldn't be nearly enough.
She is a jaguar shifter. He is all wolf. They work well with each other. They need to find out why someone is after Ella. I liked the suspense part of the book. I will give this a solid 4 clocks. Honestly wish it had been longer but I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

Take a Breath by Jaimie Roberts... review by Kathy

~Blurb-

Ana Sinclair has not led the most ordinary life. From a child she was plucked from one home to another, as her mother went through men, like some women went through chocolate. Now at the age of 22 she has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, has a fantastic job as a Crime Analyst and lives and works with a man called Jake Bennett, who she cannot shake out of her head no matter how hard she tries. This man has been her obsession since the first day they met, but there is one major obstacle standing in her way. He’s getting married to her mother.

When her mother, Stella decides to suddenly flee once more, Ana and Jake are left with his 16-year-old son, Matthew to carry on with life as normal. But an unexpected turn of events pushes them both closer together, creating the most intense mind-blowing relationship any of them have ever encountered. The chemistry between them is electric and Jake’s caveman tendencies has Ana both irritated and turned on all at the same time.

Unfortunately for them, all is not perfect in the Bennett household when a serial killer on the loose seems to have an unhealthy obsession towards Ana. Jake, being Captain of Fairfax County, tries his best to keep Ana safe and protected from harm, as Ana tries desperately to keep a dark skeleton hidden in her closet from leaking out to the ones she loves. The situation takes a turn for the worse when Ana discovers a note on her pillow from the killer, and the events that unfold from that point on, threatens to tear their relationship apart, forever.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book or honestly even finish it because of the blurb. It is a little deceptive. It doesn't tell you that Jake is only 33 and that he had his son when HE was a teenager. Once I got that out of the way, I was all into the book. I do want to let you know that this is a series. There is a cliffhanger. If I had known that I wouldn't have read it, but I would have missed out on a good book. So let's get on into this book.....

What, did I just hear him correctly' he wants to go for drinks? I look at him in awe. He has the most beautiful physique. He is 6'3" and is very fit. He likes to work out in the gym so is nicely compact. He has dark brown hair, almost black slicked back and spiked at the front with the most piercing green eyes I've ever seen. Why does he have to be so damn godlike? "Yes, that's fine,"I answer. " I think a few are going."
"I thought so, that's why I want to come. I think Tony has his eye on you and I want to make sure he behaves himself after a few beers."
I think my jaw just dropped to the floor, he spied me and obviously notices my reaction.
"Sorry, just doing my protective fatherly thing."
Oh great, can the floor of the car swallow me up right now?Father, he's only eleven years older than me. I want to die.

Suddenly I feel a pair of hands on my hips and an unwelcome crutch pushing into me from behind. I turn to face who it is thinking that it's Tony when I face a man I 've never met before. The guy with dark blonde spike hair and a silly drunk grin on his face looks down to me.
"Hi babes, you're looking mighty fine there so I thought I may join in, you don't mind do you? You're a great dancer'"
I'm angry; who does he think he is? "Actually I do mind, now can you get your hands off me?" He's looking angry now, I try to push his hands away and he just grips harder.
"Don't try to fight me off lady, you dance like that and expect no one to notice and want to join you."
I try to wiggle myself away from him when the spiky blonde guy is suddenly yanked off me by the scruff of his neck and there stands Jake, Tony and a bunch of guys from work surrounding him.

I run over to Tony and Jake and I put my hand on each of their chests. The electricity that bolts through me has me spellbound, as I stare into Jake's eyes for a second. He makes an ever so slight gasp like he feels it too and I can feel Tony's eyes go from me to Jake.
"Thanks guys, but I don't want any trouble caused over me, and besides he's not worth it. I think it may be best if we leave now, don't you think Jake?"
"Wow that was intense. I thought they were going to start pissing on you for a minute there. "
I smack her arm,"Jessie, that's disgusting. I'm going home before I cause any more trouble. How are you getting back, have you got a ride?"

What I liked about the book:
This is more of a romance book then suspense but, they suspense defintely added to the story. I love those. I do have to say that I figured out the "bad guy" early on but was still enjoyed it. They chemistry between Ana and Jake is ridiculously HOT. They jump off the page. I was truly into the book and didn't want it to end.
Ana has a British accent. Having lived in England until she was 11. I could hear her in my head talking and I loved it. She does have some very dark secrets in he past that she needs to deal with. She needs to let Jake know so he can help her but, chooses not to yet. Once her mother Stella takes off for parts unknown, things with Jake heat up fast. He is a dominant alpha male who feels guilty because of his feelings for Ana. He is worried how everyone will react especially his son.  Once these two realize that they share the same feelings...WOW....He is ridiculously  jealous of any guy who looks at or touches Ana. I was worried that this would be a bad thing but, I loved that he loved her so much. I don't want to spoil anything else soooooooo.........

What I didn't like about the book:

There are some definite editing issues with the book. I found myself distracted by it a couple of times in the story. I hate when that happens. I would have preferred a bit more suspense and not to have figured out the bad guy so quickly. I didn't like that this was a cliffhanger. I was literally yelling at the end of the book. Okay, a little cussing too. Was shocked but, that would spoil it for you.......

I would recommend this book and will give it 4 clocks. It could have been 5 had the editing issues not occurred. I am awaiting the second book which should be out at the end of November. I also want to say that Jake gave me some great dreams too.... HE IS A HOT ALPHA MALE.....Whew is it hot in here?

A little of what I have been reading this week, Dawn

 ~Blurb~
Art was not only a passion of Machiko Barrett, but also a destiny--a way of life she has known since her talent was discovered at three-years-old. Caught in a turbulent storm of celebrity, scandal, and corruption, she disappeared from the art world only to re-emerge 15 years later. Her sheltered existence is disrupted when she is lured back to her one true passion: painting.

While she struggles to discover her own identity through her art, she encounters a man who opens her eyes to the art of sensuality, and awakens the woman buried deep inside the broken girl.

I read this book this week and I really enjoyed it. It does take a few chapters to get going but once it does it's a good read!
Their relationship is filled with Drama and angst, so if you love that, this is the book for you.
Really great supporting characters and funny.
I am giving Brush with Desire 3.5 clocks

Eric Hublot's sociopathically pornographic, bizarrely philosophical debut novel follows the life of anti-hero Jerome Esterson. Jerome has everything - looks, money, women, friends. And yet, he seems to be fighting a losing battle with reality.
From the story's reckless opening to its unforgettable conclusion, And Then Run's net of desire, psychosis, and philosophy keeps readers unwillingly identifying with Jerome s psychopathic tendencies, and wondering about the boundaries of their own personal realities.

~ I started this last night and HOLY BALLZ! it is a trip... I am very excited to see where this leads me. I mean with a description like that, how can I not read it? I hope it stays as interesting as the first few chapters.....Stay tuned...~

Before Midnight by Jennier Blackstream ...Review by Kathy

-Blurb-
Loupe always dreamed of getting married. She yearned for a caring husband who would take her away from her servant-like existence at home with her stepmother and two stepsisters, a man who would love her forever. Those dreams ended the day she was bitten by a werewolf. Now she’s a mindless beast on the night of the full moon—a condition that forever prevents her from sharing a marriage bed. Not even the attentions of a handsome and endearingly strong prince can convince her that the life she wants is still possible.

Etienne is a prince in need of a werewolf. A werewolf himself from birth, Etienne and his family have protected their kingdom with tooth and claw—literally—for thousands of years. Unfortunately, the spell of a well-meaning witch is slowly turning him human. Only the bite of a cursed werewolf, one who was not born with the beast inside, can save him from becoming human. He has no time for anything that will not lead him to a cure for the cure. Not even the beautiful maiden whose gentle nature soothes his soul can take his mind from his goal.

Love cares little for the best laid plans or the impossible. A grand ball. The stroke of twelve. A magic “slipper.” All kinds of things can happen when you don’t leave the ball…Before Midnight.

"The werewolf, the vampire, the demon, the angel, and the god. Oh, Blessed Goddess, I have my work cut out for me."
Sounds like the start of a joke right? Well it's not, it is a new 5 part series by Jennifer Blackstream. I read this book because the cover caught my attention and because with in the first 3 lines of the book my attention was peaked. What do those 5 have in common and why is Eurydice (Greek Mythology) and the world tree together. Yup, my attention was definitely grabbed. Yes, I like Greek mythology and that may have helped as well, but I was not disappointed at all. Plus there is the added bonus that this read similar to Cinderella but twisted.

A memory rose up in her mind. She could see the carcass now, the one that hadn't been as dead as her stepmother had claimed it was. In her mind's eye, Loupe saw her hand reaching for the skin, the knife ready to make the first cut. Flashing yellow eyes flew open and lips pulled back in a snarl. Loupe screamed, dropping the knife as the animal lunged at her. Its teeth dragging over her palm as the creature used its last bit of life to mark her....change her.
Yes, this first book is about the werewolf. Loupe is a shy girl who is beaten down by her Stepmother and Stepsisters. She cleans for them, cooks for them, and skins the wolfs for them after they have hunted. She is also a werewolf or Loup Garou, one bitten and turned to werewolf. The hero of the story is Prince Etienne. He is a lycanthrope, or born werewolf. He has been  blessed/cursed and is turning more human everyday. His kingdom survives because his family is lycanthrope. They can defend against the others of the world. He is told that he has little time left as a wolf and will need to find a werewolf to bite him so that he may return to his regular wolf. He is told to throw a ball (Cinderella style)......

"The trick will be remaining calm through the social niceties of knocking on the wrong door's first if I don't get lucky and guess Loupe's right away."
"Ah, yes." the witch mused. " I would imagine many mothers and daughters will try to get you to stay a little longer in the hopes of ...distracting you from your goal." She paused and tapped her chin."Bring me the toe."
"I beg your pardon?" Etienne stared at her. His father, who'd been silently observing their exchange, looked just as shocked.
"Bring me the toe," the witch repeated calmly. "I will glamour it to look like the dress shoe Loupe was wearing. We'll say the young lady heard the commotion outside, became frightened, and fled. The entire kingdom saw the way you looked at her, danced with her. Your love for her was plain for all to see. No one will question how devastated you are at her disappearance and they will find it only too natural when you vigorously pursue her. After I cast the glamour, you will have a herald announce that the prince will marry the girl who fits the slipper."
"Don't be daft,"Etienne gasped. "I'll do no such thing," His mind whiled with all the possible maidens who might fit the "slipper." He had no intentions of blindly announcing a marriage challenge.
"The "slipper" will only fit Loupe. It is her toe after all."

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the new spin on the story and am awaiting the rest in the series. I am not normally a paranormal fangirl, but this book was well written with just enough suspense and romance to make me forget that. I give this 4 clocks. It would have been more exciting for me if there had been some sex in the book however, this was romance not sex. So if you are looking for a HOT paranormal this is not for you, but if you are looking for romance then this book is it. The next book in the series will be about the Vampire Prince and is a twist on Snow White.

Shattered by Fate (Part Two of Fate's Path) Jacelyn Rye

Synopsis:

One heart cannot remember. Another heart cannot forget. Both hearts reach toward something to grasp. For Sarah, it is her past. For Will, it is to bring that past back. The only thing standing squarely in their way — is their future. Each has promised their heart and life to another. But where happiness should be, instead are the dark billowing clouds of a storm of reckoning. The thunder of regret splits a horizon now raining down upon them in shards of shattered promises and unreachable memories. In Book One of this three-part saga, fate seemed it would not be denied, bringing Sarah and Will together in a turbulent world, uniting young hearts for the right reason: love. But — almost as if it has eyes — fate sees to it that no love that is meant to be is allowed to be, without it being tested to the passionate edges of chance. Accidents. Small ones are remembered and retold with a laugh. Useful ones are celebrated. But shattering ones — those are the ones that slip from the fingers of fate. The kinds that are followed by silence as it roars the sound of life changing. And it is this pounding drone that Sarah and Will — once inseparable — now hear when they listen to their hearts. After her accident, Sarah awakens in a hospital room and into a very different life. Will, accidentally buried by heavy timber when he heroically saves a fellow worker, is also delivered into his own unforeseen, disoriented new life. Destiny’s dust never settles. And nothing is clear when doubts appear. Sarah is betrothed to Adley, while Will is engaged to Margaret, yet both are still connected to each other by an indescribable draw seemingly groping out from the deepest reaches of fate. A fate that deliberately leaves the door of temptation cracked open, giving Will a yearning peek at the naked truth of Sarah, who reaches out with the same tortured passions. A fate that leaves both to fight the desperate desires of wanting what each knows they cannot have. A fate that dares them to ask, “What will happen if I finally feel you?”

Excerpt:

He carried her into her room, but paused to use his foot to swing the door closed behind them.  He gently laid her on the bed, pulled his arms from under her, and kneeled onto the bed. As he brought his body directly over Sarah’s, she looked up at him, both of their eyes pleading with the other for permission.
No words would come.  The emotion flooding her body now was something completely new, yet so unbelievably familiar.  It was as if she were under a spell.  A wonderful, scary spell.  She reached up to his shoulders and ran her hands to the back of his head.  She gently weaved her fingers into his hair.  Her robe opened slightly with the movement of her arms. It was time.  Time to surrender.
He moved slowly toward her and stopped just above her waiting mouth.  “Sarah,” he whispered, so quietly that she barely heard.  “I’ve dreamt of this for so long.  Please tell me I’m not dreaming, now.”
She ran her hands through his hair again, and shook her head.  “Maybe, it is all a dream.  If it is, I don’t want to wake up.  Please,” she said, as tears filled her eyes, “please, kiss me

Jacelyn Rye Bio

Jacelyn Rye is many things. She can be as alluring as the love that flows from her pen: pure, honest, simple. But then, like a storm that suddenly appears over the mountain, she can also have you running for shelter where there’s no place to hide. Like life, itself, Jacelyn delivers the hard with the soft, the pain with the joy, the instant with the forever. All of it, for a reason. And it’s there that one can best enter her life.

“I believe in signs, I believe everything happens for a reason,” she’ll tell you. If you know someone like that, you already know a primal piece of Jacelyn — a person who actually listens to the Universe because there, she knows she’ll find more than answers, she’ll find reasons. And those reasons give her insights about nature, and human nature, both of which she invites us to explore with her.

Growing up in the blue sky country of Colorado doesn’t leave an impression, it becomes a lifeblood. For Jacelyn, the clarity of that truth flows through her stories, her characters and her inherent spirituality that somehow knows faith, in the end, triumphs over despair.

Through her storytelling — firmly stimulated by that early country life that taught her to always be prepared when venturing forth — Jacelyn’s uncanny ability to “see” what could happen takes readers into a crystal ball where the future’s many possible outcomes await in a swirl of incandescence, right down to the details of smell, touch, fear, love.

Because life also presents its possibilities in dreams, Jacelyn holds dear that open door. “My dreams mean a lot to me. I listen to them, solve problems in them, learn from them,” she confides. It figures, then, that when you read her stories, you’d best get ready for a trip with an original dream weaver.

And then, there’s serendipity. To know Jacelyn is to accept a dance with chance. She accepted one such chance when she moved from her beloved Colorado to an unknown life awaiting her in Southern California, where she lives today. “I knew another beautiful world was out there.  I was ready for adventure,” she says, with the confidence that proves her faith is more than just words. “I moved from Colorado as soon as I graduated from college, thanks to a great job offer. The night after I received my job offer, I saw a commercial that said, ‘California, find yourself here.’  In that moment, I stopped debating the move and took it as a sign that my adventure would be found in California.”

As Jacelyn does so well, she shares those adventures in her writing. In her first book series, you’ll find Jacelyn’s experiences of this major life change play out in Sarah, who also moves from Colorado to California. “What I’ve seen and felt enable me to write realistically about how a Colorado mountain girl feels about living in California.”

In the quiet mornings, you’ll find Jacelyn savoring her coffee, outside. To her, it’s all about listening, breathing in, appreciating being here for another day. And of course, there’s time spent in the mountains, fishing, wading in creeks with the people she loves. Curiously, this girl who comes from the mile-high mountains, still fears the miles-deep ocean she frequently visits, but only to sink her toes in the hot sand and watch, in awe and respect, the thundering surf.

On any given day, be it in the mountains, at the beach, or on her terrace, Jacelyn is dreaming and writing, her way of sharing something meaningful with those who come to know her.

One thing is for sure, wherever she goes, wherever she’s been, Jacelyn is aware and thankful for the gifts around her. Indeed, although she does not get back to Colorado that often, she’s there in spirit, and in absolute detail, in a moment’s call. “The smells, the sound aspen leaves make when the wind asks them to dance, how tall pines gently sway back and forth against a backdrop of the bluest blue I’ve ever known.” That’s someone who takes it all in, who takes it all with her, and who offers it to everyone who opens her books.

Whiskey For Breakfast by Liliana Hart....Review by Kathy

-Blurb-The Private Investigator's Handbook

Rule #1: Don't break the law

Rule #2: See Rule #1

...And then there's Addison Holmes, who makes up her handbook as she goes along.

Addison is licensed to carry and she means business. The only thing getting in her way is a sexy detective, a neighborhood watch from hell, a dead billionaire, a black market sperm bank, and a long lost heir.

Piece of cake..

Addison Holmes is freaking awesome. Unfortunately I think I might be channeling her at times (injury wise) but, I still wanna be her. She is by far one of my favorite PI's.  She is either the luckiest person or the smartest. Sometimes I am not sure which it is. She makes me literally LOL. I even found myself yelling at my tablet when she said something to Savage. Startled myself with that one. So let's get started.....

My name is Addison Holmes, and I'm a private investigator in training for the McClean Detective Agency. That basically means I spend most of my time spying on adulterers, making coffee, and being babysat by my trainer since I have a tendency to get into trouble whenever I'm out on my own. But in my defense, I usually managed to get the job done. I had the scars to prove it.

I was halfway down the hallway when I heard a horrible moan. My heart stopped and I turned around to run back from the way I'd come when I heard it again. And though it was horrible, it wasn't a death moan. I'd heard a few o those sounds over the past months. Back when I was having regular sex I'd even moaned like that myself. From the increasing volume I was guessing she was enjoying herself, whoever she was. Either that or she was declawing a cat without anesthesia.

Addison has 2 hot guys who want her. One is Nick Dempsey. He is a detective with the Savannah Police Department. The other is Matt Savage who is an FBI agent and lives across the street from Addison. Addison is extremely attracted to Savage but knows he isn't in it for the long haul. Nick broke her heart.

His jaw tightened again and I saw a vein throb at his temple. "I've been busy with work, I haven't had the time to date anyone. Besides, after dating you everyone else seems a little boring. They're certainly less reckless."
"And you were doing so well....."
"Listen, I'll pay you."
My eyes widened at that and my first thought was that I should be angry. I wasn't a hooker for crying out loud. But then the practical side took over. I needed the money.
"How much?"
"A hundred bucks."
"A hundred bucks? You're kidding me? Five hundred and you've got a deal."
"Five hundred dollars?" he choked. "Are you fucking serious?I could hire an escort for that and at least get sex out of it."
"Stop the car. I'll just get out here."
"Fine, fine." He raised his hands in surrender. "Five hundred dollars."
"Believe me, you're getting out with a bargain. mostly I still want to do bodily harm to you whenever I see you."
He slammed on the brakes and before I knew it my seatbelt was unbuckled and I was sitting on his lap, my empty ice cream container tumbling to the floor. His lips touched mine and every protest I had leaked right out of my brain.

Like I said Nick is HOT. The characters chemistry is sizzling. She also has some great chemistry with Savage. I would want them both, ahhh. Sorry got distracted.

This book really is laugh out loud funny. There is a scene about naked yoga and Addison's mother. OMG i laughed so hard I was crying. The relationship with her mother is so great. She always keeps everyone on their toes. Then you have NAD, the neighborhood watch from hell. Not sure how Liliana Hart came up with these characters but I want to meet people like this, I would have a freaking ball. I can't wait till the next Addison Holmes book comes out. She is always a fantastic read. I'd give Liliana Hart a standing ovation but, my stomach is still hurting from laughing.  I beg you to read this series! I am giving Whiskey For Breakfast, 5 big clocks. Oh and the last 2 lines of the book...... Yeah I screamed and cussed because I have to wait for the next book. Write fast, please.......

Evan Black embodies my every fantasy. He is brilliant, fierce, and devastatingly handsome. But he is also headstrong, dangerous, and burdened with secrets.

My family warned me to stay away, that I could never handle Evan’s dark dealings or scarred past. Maybe I should have listened. Maybe I should have run. But our desire is undeniable, and some temptations you just can’t fight.

And from the moment we touch—the passion between us consuming us both—I know that I will never be the same.

We Meet Angelina Hayden Raine, at one of most devastating times in her life. The loss of her beloved Uncle Jahn. The only person to every really understand her, to accept her.
Angie is the daughter of a United States senator and the sister of a murder victim, that is how she is known. She was taken in by her uncle after her sisters murder, being at home was just to much for her. But is her beloved Uncle the man she always new him to be or is there much more to this man she adored?

Evan Black, both came from money and had made is own fortune. The first time Angie laid eyes on Even, she was 16 years old. She was immediately attracted to him. She also met his best friends Tyler and Cole, all were students of Jahn's.  But it was Even she couldn't get out of her head.

"I tried to concentrate on television. On a book. On screwing around on the internet. But nothing held my attention. My mind was too full of Evan, and in the end I went to bed early. Not because I was truly sick, but because I wanted the pleasure of the dark. The thrill of sliding my hands down my belly and under the band of my underwear, then touching myself with my eyes closed as I imagined that it was Evan's fingers upon me. His fingers, his tongue, every decadent inch of him."

Now at 24, Angie still longed for Evan, and seeing him made her even more aware of her lust.

"He wore his hair long in the back so that it brushed his collar, and the natural waves gave it a quality of a mane - which only enhanced the impression that there was a wildness clinging to the man.
Wild or not, I wanted to get close. I wanted to thrust my fingers into his hair and feel the locks on my skin. I imagined his hair was soft, but that's the only part of him that was. Everything else was edged with steel, the hard planes of his face and body hinting at a dangerous core beneath that beauty."

Angie is "sorta" dating Kevin, an FBI agent. His feelings are much more intense than hers. Her parents liked him, and he was a distraction from her desire for Evan. But, Kevin didn't know her, she didn't open up to anyone, she has secrets, secrets that would cause problems for her father, who was in the running to be the VP.

Ok, so I have given you the basics... I am now going to give you what you want... I LOVED THIS BOOK! The chemistry of Angie or Lina as Evan calls her, was OFF THE CHARTS!  They were connected in ways I didn't see coming. Is he exactly what she needs to get back to the fun, free, life loving Lina she once was? Or was he dangerous in a way, that might cause those around her to be hurt?
Evan, has secrets and BOY ARE THEY BIG ONES! He knows what he needs to do to get out of his lifestyle, but upon the reading of Jahn's will, things change. But how will this change things between he and Lina?
The drama surrounding these two makes for really a great read. She is determined to make him want her and he is determined to fight it.
IT GETS HOT,  that is all I can say... HOLY ALPHA MALE!!! WOW...

The supporting characters are really well written. Tyler and Cole are your typical "big brothers" to Angie and they crack me up! I can NOT wait to read their stories ...
Flynn, Angie's long time friend is fun, he is her rock.
Her friend Katrina, is so funny and always has something to say making me chuckle...I hope we see more of her in the other two books!
Kevin, even being an ass, he was written in a way the story needed him.

I really enjoyed this book, the drama, the secrets, the super steamy scenes... WOW! This series has the makings of a really great collection!!!! I am looking forward to reading the next book!

Night Owl by M.Pierce...Reviews by Kathy and Dawn....

~Blurb-
Love is unstoppable...

At twenty-eight, Matt Sky has the perfect life. He has a beautiful girlfriend, a massive inheritance, and four national bestsellers -- all penned under his airtight alias, M. Pierce.

At twenty-seven, Hannah Catalano has a train wreck. Her boyfriend is a deadbeat and her job is abysmal.

Matt and Hannah meet online as writing partners. Their relationship is safe, anonymous, and innocent...

Until Matt sees a picture of Hannah.

Hannah's picture sparks an attraction Matt is powerless to ignore. When circumstance brings Matt and Hannah together, the strangers begin a love story that's passionate, poignant, unforgettable, and unstoppable

I loved this book. I loved it enough to make Dawn (The original blogger and reviewer) read it. So I am going to just jump right on in....

Matt Sky is HOT. He is a best selling author and has his life where he wants it, until Hannah.  They have set rules...

"No pictures," I told Hannah on Skype. "No specifics, no last name, no phone number. Nothing. I don't want to know you, and I don't want you to know me. We write together online, that's it. I'm not looking for a new fried, I'm looking for a writing partner."
" Got it," she replied.
Hannah broke two of my rules within a month when she sent me an email from her personal address, hannah.catalano@gmail.com. Beside the email was her account picture. A picture of her.

They end up talking and things progress from there. She leaves her boyfriend and is headed home to Colorado where her family lives. During the trip to Colorado, more rules get broken by both Matt and Hannah. They talk on the phone. They text. Hannah is enthralled with him. Truthfully I was right there with Hannah all the way.....Then they meet...

Hannah giggled and bunched up a pillow beneath her chest.
"I'd smack you with this if I could," she said. She stifled a yawn. Fuck, she was precious. "Oh, hey. Will you do me a favor Matt?"
"Anything."
"This is easy. Just repeat after me. 'It was nice talking to you, Hannah. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
I gave her an incredulous look.
"Don't give me that look. I'm trying to reach you this mysterious skill, one that you seem to lack. It's called how to say goodbye."
I smiled and rubbed the back of my neck.
"What are you grinning at?" she said.
"I never want to," I said.
"What? Never want to what?"
"I never want to learn how to say goodbye."

Swoon.. sorry but ahhhhh I love that... The beginning of this book was WOW but then we move into the dark angsty part. Matt has been keeping all sorts of things from Hannah. Once she finds out all of them will she still be there. Matt should tell her everything....He wants to tell her but is scared. He has a lot of history and not all of it is good. Just when he is ready to let her know all the good, the bad, and the awful, it blows up on him.

Matt had that girlfriend. Bethany. She was away when this started. He never told Hannah about her. Now she is tearing his world with Hannah apart...Matt goes to a very dark place. Only Hannah can make it light again. I do not want to give out any spoilers.

Hannah loves Matt but will she be able to really accept him once she finds out everything.

"Please just come, please Hannah...."
Hot tears spilled over my eyelids.
"Matt, I swear, I'll be there. I have to tell Pam I'll be late. I'll be there, though, just...."
"Please," I whispered.
"I'm coming. I'm going in, I'm telling Pam I'll be late, and no matter what, I'm coming over Matt. Give me ten minutes. Five minutes."
"No matter what," I repeated.
"No matter what."
"Promise. Hannah, Promise. Promise you'll be here no matter what."
"Matt, I promise. I'll be right there. No matter what."

I absolutely loved this book. Love this line...."You're projecting your assholery on to me." Matt was damaged, truthfully may always be damaged. But OMG he is a HOT DOMINATE man who expects his rules to be followed and has no problems telling you exactly want HE wants. Yeah I LOVED Matt. The sex was steamier than hell. I reread this book all ready and writing the review makes me want to read it again. I give it 5 steaming hot panty melting clocks. Anxiously awaiting the 2nd book.

OK, you read Kathy's review now here is mine...

I really did enjoy this book, I don't think anyone can enjoy it as much as Kathy did!
I really loved the drama portion of this book. It was fan flipping tastic! Matt is very damaged, and he has demons he is chasing. His secrets are eating at him and he is trying like crazy to keep them hidden from Hannah.

Matt, is smokin' HOT! It went from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds! He was certainly not secretive about his wants and desires. Hannah was putty in his hands...and that made it even hotter!

Once Hannah learns his secret, she is hurt and feeling betrayed... Can she ever come back from that, or will she leave Matt to deal with the fall out and pick up the pieces?
I really am interested to see where this goes, the way it ended left me shaking my head saying... "OH HELL NO, DON'T END LIKE THAT"! So me being an instant gratification kinda gal, I want to know NOW!

This book is catching on fast and rightly so, now I am waiting... I want book 2! I am giving Night Owl, 4 Clocks...

Text by Cambria Herbert...review by Kathy

Blurb-
Honor Calhoun never thought her life would ever be like the books she writes for a living. One morning while out for a run, she learns not all bad things are plots in novels. Some horrors can actually come true.
She faces off with a persistent attacker, holds her own, but in the end is taken hostage and thrown into a hole. In the middle of the woods.
But Honor didn’t go down there alone.
She took her kidnapper’s phone with her. But with a spotty signal and a dying battery, hope is slim.
Nathan Reed is an active duty Marine stationed at a small reservist base in Pennsylvania. All he wants is a calm and uneventful duty station where he can forget the memories of his time in a war-torn country.
But a single text changes everything.
Nathan becomes Honor’s only hope for survival, and he has to go against the clock, push aside his past, and take on a mission for a girl he’s never met.
Both of them want freedom… but they have to survive long enough to obtain it
.
I wanted to read this book from the moment that I read the excerpt in Tempt. I love the premise of the book.  Then it got released 2 days early and I am a very happy girl.

What would you do if you were suddenly attacked. Do you fight or do you give in. If you are Honor you fight. Then you fight some more. And just when you think you can't fight anymore you see a cell phone in your kidnappers back pocket. You do what you have to do to get it, even if you are thrown into a hole in the middle of the woods. But what happens if there is not enough signal to make a call, what then? Then all of a sudden you see this text message......

You're late. U coming?
Please help me.
What's wrong? Shitty hand?
I was kidnapped by the owner of this phone. Plz help me. Call 911.
That's a sick joke.
I'm not jkin! I swear!
Prove it.

Have I gotten your attention? I know Cambria Hebert sure got mine.

Honor is scared out of her mind but, she is tough. She will find a way out. She is not just going to give up and die. She keeps trying to get out of the hole she was thrown in and hoping that Nathan will find her.

Nathan ( oh my do I want a Nathan) is a marine. When he gets this text message he knows that he will do anything to find and protect Honor. He is tough and smart. Then he gets a new text message....

He's Back.

Once Nathan finds her, he sees the bruises and blood. He wants to kill the guy, but they are now being hunted by the lunatic. They take shelter so Nathan can assess her wounds. He knows they can't be there for long..

"Hey, I'm Nathan Reed. It's nice to meet you. "
"I'm a staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. my favorite color is green, and I like football."
"What are you doing?" I asked, thoroughly charmed by him.
"Formally introducing myself so you'll let me under your shirt."
I laughed. " I usually don't let men I just met under my shirt."
"I'm irresistible."
I smiled. "And so modest."
"Now you know all about me. Your turn."
"I'm Honor Calhoun. I'm a writer. my favorite color is blue, and I also like football."
"You like hot wings, Honor?" he asked like it was the most important thing he needed to know.
"Who doesn't?"
"Nice," he drawled.
"All right," he said, gesturing to my shirt. "Lift it up. Let's see it."
"You suck at foreplay."
"That, sweetheart was not foreplay. When we get to that, you'll damn well know it."

Like I said, I want Nathan. He is cocky yet sweet. He only wants to protect Hannah and make sure that she is never hurt again. He takes care of her in the woods, and continues once they are home. I am not normally a fan of the "insta love" thing in romance books. It works here though. Maybe because they have to depend on each other in the woods or maybe just because Cambria is such a good writer. I just know that I put down a different book to read Text. I keep thinking about how wonderful Nathan is, even though he does have his own issues. I give a full 5 clocks. I am now awaiting the next book in the series.. TIPSY...there is an excerpt in the back. Thanks Cambria now I am going to be all wound up till I get to read that one too.

The Edge of Always by J.A.Redmerski...review by Dawn

~blurb~

Camryn Bennett has never been happier. Five months after meeting on a Greyhound bus, she and her soul mate Andrew Parrish are engaged-and a wedding isn't the only special event in their future. Nervous but excited, Camryn can't wait to begin the rest of her life with Andrew, a man she knows in her heart will love her always. They have so much to look forward to-until tragedy blindsides them.

Andrew doesn't understand how this could happen to them. He's trying to move on, and thought Camryn was doing the same. But when Andrew discovers Camryn is secretly harboring a mountain of pain and attempting to numb it in damaging ways, there is nothing he won't do to bring her back to life. Determined to prove that their love can survive anything, Andrew decides to take Camryn on a new journey filled with hope and passion. If only he can convince her to come along for the ride...

Let me first start of by saying, I loved The Edge of Never, like adored it...
This picks up where we last left Camryn and Andrew, in Galveston and expecting a child.  Living away from home, North Carolina is getting to Camryn. She misses her Mom and best friend, Natalie. Andrew doesn't really care where they are as long as they are together.

Visiting NC, is very revealing to Andrew. He is not the biggest fan of Natalie, her pic on his cell is hyena for shits and giggles! loved that. Things there are going fine, and they decide they will end up living there. Then tragedy strikes...

I am not going to put spoilers on here for you, but it is heart breaking. For me this is where the book sort of fell apart. Natalie notices changes in Cam and seeks Andrew out to fill him in or Cam's very difficult past. Surprised by what he finds out Andrew vows to be there and make sure Camryn is getting everything she needs.

I was just bothered by how these two didn't deal with what happened. I mean we get glimpses of Cam being up set and then she turns to numbing the pain., but there is never really a breaking point.  And poor Andrew, he never gets a chance to be upset! I know he is a great guy and all about Cam, but I really wanted him to just lose it. It bothered me a lot. When Andrew finds out what Camryn is doing, it's basically "stop this now... ok" and then she does. I don't know it just was a little to "nice and neat" to me.
I miss the Andrew and Camryn from the first book, I mean I get it...people grow up and change, but its only been like 6 months!!!

We see them take off again trying to recapture the free, fun, no commitments life style they once had. Living in hotels and driving along the cost, preforming, taking jobs for weeks at a time, just getting back to who they once were. There were some pretty great moments during the travel and I found myself thinking " OH THERE THEY ARE"...
Andrew's 26th birthday...

"Ho-ly-shit" I yell out. It takes me a second to realize what happened. Between seeing Camryn at the foot of the bed holding an ice bucket and me frantically tossing the cold, wet sheets to the side, I'm still trying to catch my breath.
Camryn cackles loudly. "Happy birthday, baby! Get up!"
I guess I deserved that after what I did to her on the morning of her birthday last month. But the devious little shit really got me good, much worst than I did her. I guess paybacks really are a bitch.
Unable to keep from smiling, I just deal with it and slowly ease my naked ass off the bed. Already she's go that uh-oh look on her face and she begins to back away from me and move toward the door. Knowing it's her only way out, I watch as she gauges the situation.
"I'm sorry!" she says with a terrified smile, her hand bent behind her feeling her way for the door.
"Uh-huh, I'm sure you are, babe."
I walk very slowly toward her, my hooded eyes watching her as if I'm a predator toying with its prey.
She cackles again. "Andrew! You better not!" She's just two feet from the door now. But I take my time, letting her think she might actually make it that far, my grin deepening to the point that I know I must look like a sadistic madman by now.
Suddenly Camryn squeals, unable to contain it any longer and dashes to the door thrusting it open "Nooo! Please!" she yells and laughs at the same time as the door swings wide open, smashing into the wall. She runs out into the hallway.
When I come running out after her, the shocked look on her face and the hilarious fact that she actually stopped, is a dead giveaway that she didn't expect me to go this far with no clothes.

I was laughing out loud while reading that part... just visually it was amazing to imagine, hey its Andrew after all.
I felt like the banter was still there and they really did love each other. It was very sweet and beautifully written, very believable.
I felt like this story was written to inspire healing and over coming tragedy, it is a lovely love story.
I just wish there was more "heat" not sex, heat...I do get that in the first book, it was about falling in love and this one, is about sustaining that love.
I admit, I cried a few times while reading it, and once you read it, I feel like you will know exactly what I am talking about.
It's worth the read and it will touch each one of us differently and that is what a good book is suppose to do.
I am giving The Edge of Always 4 clocks, happily!

About himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. So when he hears that Zara's having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he's a changed man.

~excerpt from Jagged~

When I saw who was outside, my mouth dropped open.
Luckily, the doorbell buzzing stopped.

Unluckily, the last person on earth I wanted to see was standing outside my door.
“Jesus, you don’t have a peephole?” Ham growled, looking incensed and Graham Reece looking, or worse, being incensed was a very bad thing. I’d learned that five months ago.
I didn’t have it in me to concern myself with Ham being incensed. I was more concerned with him being there at all.

To express this, I asked, “What the hell?”
“Open the fuckin’ door, Zara.”
I stared a beat, then pulled myself together.
This was not happening.
We were done.
I pushed the door closed.

The problem with this was it didn’t work, seeing as the toe of Ham’s boot was wedged between it and the jamb.
“Open the door, Zara,” he repeated.
“We’re done,” I told him through the gap in the door. “Move your foot.”
“Open the door.”
“We’re done, Ham,” I snapped.

“Right, then move back.”
“What?”
He didn’t repeat his order. He moved his foot but only so he could rear back and plant his shoulder in the door.
The chain popped right open, as did the door, and I went flying.
I righted myself as Ham, now in my apartment, slammed the door.
“You’re payin’ for that!” I yelled.
His eyes were beyond me, examining my new space as his mouth moved.
“Not a problem. I’ll reimburse what they take out of your security deposit when we move you out of this dump.”
I didn’t know what he meant and I also didn’t care.
I switched subjects.
“How did you get here so fast?” I asked, and his eyes finally came to me.
“I hope to Christ you didn’t miss local gossip because you’re spendin’ your days at Deluxe Home Store and your nights at some titty bar.”
“I’m not working at a titty bar, Ham, so you can stop concerning yourself with me and move on”—I paused—“again.” I bit off the last word then what he said penetrated and I asked, “What gossip?”
“Managing The Dog, Zara, have been for a week. I live in Gnaw Bone.”
I felt my eyes get huge as my stomach clenched.
"You’re managing The Dog?” I whispered, aghast.
“Yeah. And you just got a new job. You start after you work out your notice at Deluxe,” he returned.
“What?” This also came out quiet and horrified.

“You’re waitressin’ for me. Shit hours but, if I remember correctly and since the view hasn’t changed except to get better, with your face, tits, and ass, great tips. In the meantime, we’re movin’ you out of this shithole and, you don’t got a girl who can take you on, you’re bunkin’ with me.”
Bunking with him?
Was he high?
“I am not moving in with you,” I declared.
