Lifting the Veil by Kate Allenton .....Review by Kathy

Kate Allenton - Lifting the Veil

-Blurb-

Unemployed accountant Sophie Masterson never dreams that a trip to Salem on Halloween night will change her life forever. When a birthday gift of a psychic reading is thrust upon her by her best friend, Sophie has no choice but to play along. She wants the winning lottery numbers but, instead, receives something far more ominous—a warning of things to come. Being told her own clairvoyant abilities will soon surface should be enough to send any woman running to hide. Throw in the possibility that something sinister is headed her way and all she wants is an easy out.

When asked to help her brother, the police chief, with some easy filing, she’s sure that her problems are over. She now has an income, a job, and a safe haven where she can relax. What she doesn’t expect is that one of those files will be the catalyst to set the wheels in motion for the predictions to come true.

Detective Jack Love has a hard time following instructions. When his latest bust gets him benched, and shoved in the cold case filing room, the last thing he expects is to be tasked with babysitting the chief’s sister. When unqualified and in-need-of-medication Sophie gets the crazy idea to play detective on a case gone cold, there is little he can do to dissuade her from investigating.

Attempting to keep her clairvoyant abilities a secret, Sophie Masterson thrusts herself into a cold case where the dead are multiplying, the clues are disappearing, and the hunky cop assigned to play babysitter is a nonbeliever. She doesn't hold out much hope for solving the case, much less keeping her secret, especially when the dead seek her out to tell their tales.

When Sophie plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with winner takes all, it’s no longer the dead that scare her, but Jack Love. Surviving with her heart intact now ranks at the top of her list.

Can I just say that when I read the blurb I immediately hit the one click button and left post that was off to read. I was so not disappointed. I love Kate Allenton. I love her heroines and heroes. The women are all kick ass and take the names later types that I adore. The men are all Alpha he men who are going to tell the ladies how its going to be, not that they listen. Her characters are well developed and always make me love them. I usually laugh and yell. Always a sign of a good book. So without further ado......

" Remind me again why I let you talk me into this."
"Because we're going to have fun."
"Yeah...when does that start?"
"Look around you, Soph, the fun has already started." Amber grinned. "Besides, it's your duty as my best friend to be there for me when I'm told when Mr. Right is going to make his appearance. He's overdue."
"Maybe he lost his map," Sophie joked, earning her a glare from her best friend.

Finally not a minute too soon, Amber bounced over, grinning from ear to ear."Oh my god, mine was great."
"How was yours?"
Sophie shrugged. "I apparently have the same abilities as those quacks, and it's going to show up soon."
Amber's eyes bugged wide. "Oh my god...I can just call you now." Her brows dipped. "If that's okay."
"Sure...if it were true."
"You don't think it is?"
"Nope, I haven't had any headaches, no ringing in my ears, and no dead people talking to me."
"Hmm. Well, maybe it can still happen."
"Don't hold your breathe."

Eileen chuckled. "It's the same symbol you'll be seeing every day at the temporary job I lined up for you, grasshopper."
"Are you high? There is no way that my brother is going to allow that."
"I baked his favorite cookies."
Sophie laughed and closed her eyes."They can't be that good."
"Oh, honey, haven't you heard? I'm a baking goddess. He'd do anything for the sweet morsels I can deliver, in and out of the kitchen."
"Thanks for the visual. Now I'm going to have to bleach my eyes and my ears."
Eileen chuckled. "You don't like to hear about your brother and me getting our freak on?"
"I'm hanging up now."

See, made you laugh.

Okay, the story is about a girl who lost her job and was told she is psychic. She doesn't believe it at all, until she has no choice. Then their is Jack Love. the Hot Cop she gets partnered up with in the freezer( Cold cases). He is not a happy camper, but if he would just follow the rules and listen then he wouldn't have been put into the freezer to babysit,i mean help Sophie. He definitely made a first impression on Sophie.

" Are you here to bail your boyfriend  out of jail, sweetheart?" He wiggled his brows. "You can't do that here. You have to do that downtown at the jail."
She whipped her gaze to meet his. " i'm not your sweetheart and thee is no boyfriend in jail."
"Love," Max bellowed form his office. "Get your ass in here and bring Sophie with you."
Sophie chuckled. "Love...really?" She grinned. "Well, Love, seems my brother would like to see us."
"Masterson's your brother?" He grimaced and dropped his head forward. "I should have known."
"After you honey."
"I'm not your honey either."

Yup, Jack sucked at his first impression. Once they move on from that though, yup he continues to make an ass out of himself. I loved it and him. Jack caught my attention. He could be sweet, manly and dumb in just a couple of minutes. But, once he commits to helping her, he does. He believes her and helps her out. Even if she isn't trained as a detective she is still really good at it.
There is another guy, his name is Marshall. he is Jack's best friend and is enamored of Sophie. He helps her learn to shoot a gun and flirts outrageously with her. Then there is AMBER. Let me just say that she needs her own book. She is a brilliant sidekick, I can so see her spreading all sorts of problems, I mean JOY. I love her and Sophie. I can just imagine the stuff that the two of them can do. The things that could drive men "Bat shit crazy". Yes, she so needs to have her own story. Cuz, let me tell you I am so there...

The story has all my favorites in one book. How can you go wrong with a romantic paranormal suspense with comedy in it? You just know it will be a fantastic read because it's Kate Allenton. If you haven't read her other books, go read them. You will not be disappointed in them. I have truly enjoyed each one of her books.  Kate also used a real  person for Theresa in the book. You can check her out at http://divnelycharmed.com  I want to say so much about this book, but you know I hate spoilers...So to stop myself, I am just going to say go get this book. It is a 5 clock read for me. I have also already told the author that I only want one person for Sophie.... Not the other one... He needs to go to ..... OK go read.... Ohhhh and Kate write fast lol....

UnBeloved by Madeline Sheehan.... Review by Dawn

~Blurb~

Warning: This is not a conventional or predictable love story. It involves one woman and two men bound by a love so destructive it spans two decades, pitting brother against brother, and shattering the lives of those touched by it.

Dorothy Kelley is a born romantic, searching for her prince. Instead she finds herself pregnant at fifteen, and a in a loveless marriage by the tender age of eighteen. Then hope comes riding into her life on a motorcycle and within weeks, Jason “Jase” Brady, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen motorcycle club, sweeps Dorothy off her feet.

But nothing is ever simple for Dorothy. Jase is married with children. And as Dorothy patiently waits for Jase to give her the happily-ever-after she’s been dreaming about, James “Hawk” Young, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen with secrets of his own, sees an opening into Dorothy’s life and takes it. What follows is a long and painful journey of self-discovery and forgiveness, as Dorothy comes to realize that home was exactly where she’d left it, and the love she’d forever craved had always been within her reach.

This is the story of Dorothy, Jase, and Hawk.

We are all born pure; it is our journey that burdens us and leads us astray. Our mistakes that beat us down and cover us in guilt and shame, burying us a little more with each passing hardship. It is up to us to dig ourselves out, to come to terms with our faults, to embrace not only our imperfections but those of the ones we love, and to once again find the path we strayed from.

I am not even sure where to start... I had to take a day before I wrote this review and let it all soak in. I had to get my emotions in check and wrap my head around what I just read...We all have a favorite author, one who we just have to get their latest release as soon as it comes out. For me, its Madeline Sheehan... I am never let down, never left feeling like something was a miss. The ONLY thing I am left feeling is... sadness...why you ask? Because I have devoured it in one setting, knowing I am going to have to wait for the next one... and that makes me sad! But the writing of each book, and the way she tells a story make us keep coming back, making us wait is so worth the end result.
That is writing magic...

UnBeloved, is a great addition to this Amazing Series. I laughed until I cried. I mean when  Cox is referencing "Niagara Falls" and Kami yelling at Hawk "Shut up Gorbachev."  I lost it so hard... I will have to say my favorite laughable moment was this ...

"At least it looked like ZZ -- if ZZ and the Terminator had a fuck fest that had produced a love child named "War Monger" who had been kept on a steady diet solely of raw eggs and steroids."

That is writing magic...

I cried so much while reading this book. I felt like I was either going to laugh myself to tears or just cry like a baby, because of the emotional roller coaster ride she took us on. When Hawk goes away and he is leaving his son Christopher, I lost it... I cried so hard I could not see my kindle. I recovered only to lose it a few paragraphs later when Hawk is with Deuce. Hawk loses his shit and starts hitting the dashboard of Deuces truck until his hands were bleeding and the dash was cracked. I mean, good lord I had to take a break and compose myself enough to finish the book!!!
That is writing magic...

Dorothy was always a background player for me. I never considered her a "club piece." We got to know a bit more about her in UnA and I was thinking "oh, that poor woman."  I was thrilled to get to know her better. She seemed to come into her own and I really like her. When she made her decision and expressed why to Jase, I was giving her a standing O. We all know someone who is or has been caught between two men (and not in the fun way!) She handled it exactly the way it needed to be... scream and beat the hell out of the man who had driven you crazy for years! Maybe it was not her finest moment, but it HAD to be done. Seeing a character, mature and finally realize, that your heart gets it wrong sometimes. Seeing a mother understand her mistakes and hold herself accountable. Seeing a woman pledge her undying love to a good man.
That is writing magic...

Was there the drama/angst/torture like the previous 3? Not as much. But this was a situation where emotions were on high for years and it needed to be told in a different way. We still see a strong Deuce, but a more compassionate man. Does that make him weak? To me NO, it makes him so much more of a Man!  Characters need to evolve, to grow and lets not forget this takes place over years and years! I didn't feel like we needed pages and pages of back story or every detail that happened between Hawk/Dorothy and Jase... the book would have been over a thousand pages.

And can we talk epilogue?!? HOLY CRAP, talk about EPIC!  I am always extremely happy with an epilogue. It gives me a feeling of completion. Um, this one left me with a feeling of ... "WTF just happened?"  I did NOT see that coming and I LOVE THAT!!! That is an author who knows just how to keep us all guessing about the plot of books to come. Everyone who has read this book, we all have one thing in common, we are all wondering, what the hell is going to happen in ZZ's book? And it not even the next one in the series! Talk about dangling a carrot in all our "information hungry" faces.
Again..... That is writing magic.
No one tells a MC story like Madeline Sheehan.

5 shining clocks across the board for UnBeloved!!!

What I have been reading... by Dawn

Ok, so I have been very absent on the blog lately....sorry, my B.A.D.

I have been selfishly reading for ME! I am usually so far behind with things sent by publishers, authors and well I have kids.

Our vacation was the first week of June, so I made sure all of my "have to's" were done. I wanted to be able to enjoy reading, listening to the waves.
I normally have to highlight and mark pages that I want to reference when doing a blog or review for a publisher. I don't mind doing it at all..but reading for me is entirely different! Ya know?

Here is a little of what I read, while reading for ME!!!

I am a "Johnny Come Lately" to this series. Funnily enough my Bad Ass mother-in-law, brought these to the beach for me... And now I am addicted!!

The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I am on book #4 and LOVING this series.

I have had this book on my kindle for a very long time. I was not real sure I wanted to read it because of the subject matter. Well, HOLY CRAP I am so glad I opened it... Simply put, this series is utterly FANTASTIC!!! I read all 3 in three days.. they are that amazing! Dark, gritty, drama filled and disturbing.. In the BEST possible way. Seriously, this is one of the best trilogies I have ever read.
Pepper Winters, girl you gave us such a bad ass in Tess ... A tortured soul in Q ...and a complex beautiful love story in Twisted Together...

Monsters In The Dark series... Tears of Tess, Quintessentially Q and Twisted Together...

I have recently fallen in love with the writing of Mia Sheridan. Her Sign of Love series, is FAB! Each book is different than the previous one. First up was Archer's Voice... I ugly cried, I laughed and I loved...This is absolutely brilliant writing. I have a lot of books that I love, but this one... Archer and Bree's story, one of my top 5 books ever!

Then I read this little bit of heaven... Ahhh, Carson Stinger, Straight Male Performer... If you have read this, you get it! If you have not met Carson yet, GET ON THAT SHIT FAST! Carson and Grace's story is pure gold. You get to laugh, steamy hotness and fall in love with two amazing characters.

And finally, my most beloved series EVER...book 4 in the Undeniable Series by Madeline Sheehan... UnBeloved .... review to be posted ASAP!!!

The Protectors, ADAM by Teresa Gabelman...Review by Kathy

~Blurb~
Half-breed vampire, Adam Pride, has an almighty chip on his broad shoulders. Trying to move on after finding Angelina married to another, Adam has a decision to make. Remove the chip and move on or kill the man who took what he wanted most in the world, his Angel.

With his heart in pieces, Adam’s on a mission to become the best VC Warrior he can be. It’s not long before fate steps in, turning his world and life as he knows it upside down. Shocking revelations will realign allegiances and draw the VC Warriors onto a new path. This journey is not Adam’s alone. Every Warrior, half-breed and human will be affected by what is to come. The unknown awaits. The battle has just begun.

Okay, I admit that I have been salivating over this book, not only is the cover HOT but I am so invested in the story. I was literally jumping up and down and making noises that my kid and cats did not approve of,when this book came out early. Thank you Teresa Gabelman. As I previously stated in a review, I read her other books in 2 days and then my horribly not patiently waiting had to begin, but DAMN was it worth it. I love the warriors, each and every one of them. I find myself heavily invested in each one of them and their continuing relationships with their mates, friends, family and other warriors.  I mean how can you not love Sid?

"I'm sorry." Lana did look at him this time; her eyes filled with tears.
"I'm not," Sid chuckled with a lopsided grin. " Listen, I love you, but to be honest, having a dead person come to give me a message is just plain-ass creepy. I can't wait to see the guy's faces when they hear they have a message from beyond the grave."
Lana snorted and rolled her eyes, while Caroline laughed outright. " It really doesn't bother you?" The relief in Lana's voice was evident as she stared up at Sid, even the worry lines that creased her forehead before seemed to fade away.
Sid smiled down at her, taking her face carefully into his large hands. "No, it doesn't. It means a lot to me that you were worried about my feelings, but I don't live in the past. I live in the moment and you are my moment." He leaned down and kissed her lightly.
"That was beautiful." Caroline fake sniffed, dabbing the corner of her eye.
Lifting his lips from Lana, he looked at Caroline and winked. " It was pretty awesome wasn't it?"
Lana pinched his stomach, making him jump. "Don't ruin the moment being a smartass."
Sid laughed and hugged her close. "Hey, you knew exactly what you were getting with me. Smartass was definitely at the top of the list."
"I want one," Caroline sighed.
"One what?" Lana asked, but kept her eyes on Sid who was staring down at her with such intensity she also sighed.
"A Warrior." Caroline pointed at Sid with a dreamy sigh. "I want me a Warrior. Is Dr.Hottie McVampire taken?"
Sid laughed loudly, rubbing his hands together in evil glee. "Oh, now that is a good one. I've been trying to come up with a nickname for him."

I agree with Caroline. I want one too....
I mean how can you not love Sid? I love a good smartass. Adam and Jill are really good at the snarky smartass things too.

"I think the last case you were involved in, you ended up naked in front of a bunch of men." Steve grinned. "One would think you wouldn't want to do that again, unless you....liked it."
"Steve, do you like pissing me off?" Jill frowned, glaring over at him. "I mean really? Do you want me to kick your ass?"
Adam and Steve shared a grin." Will ya...do it...naked?" Steve wiggled his eyebrows, and then yelped when Jill kicked him off the bed before pouncing on him.
"What the hell is going on?" Slade crossed his arms with a frown, staring down at Jill and Steve, who stopped in mid swings to look up at him.
"I think..."Adam grinned, grabbing his shoes and putting them on, "it all started when Steve wanted Jill to kick his ass...naked."
Steve pushed Jill away like she had the plague. Standing up quickly, he glared at Adam as if he'd lost his mind. "I didn't say naked." he snorted glancing at Slade, but pointed his thumb at Adam while shaking his head. " I said..."
"Naked." Adam grinned, watching Steve try to worm himself out of this one.
Steve glared at him again before laughing nervously. "Okay, I did say naked, but it was just a joke." Steve snorted again, clearly indicating he was about to shit himself as Slade's eyes drilled into his; this time he thumbed toward Jill."I mean who'd want to see Jill naked."
"Hey!" Jill smacked the back of Steve's head. "There are plenty who would want to see me naked."
"Yeah I know, but..."Steve looked between Jill and Slade, who were glaring at him from different heights. "Well, I don't know that, but...you know what, I'm just going to shut the hell up."
Adam's head fell back as he laughed loudly, the first real laugh since he didn't know when. Still grinning, he looked at Slade. "I don't know, my man. I think if Jill offered to fight me naked, I might take her up on it." Adam winked at Jill, knowing he was pushing it, but didn't care. "What about you, Doc? Naked ground fighting sound good to you?"

This is the story of Adam. He has made some serious mistakes in the past. He lost his Angel. He has decided that he must get on with his life. He wants to be let back in to be a Warrior. He will be one and he will be great at it. He will be a member of the team. But, he still can't forget his Angel. He thinks that she is in love and married to another man. Others have doubts that this is true but, he read the truth, right?

There is the story of Angelina's kidnapping and her husband. She is supposedly very happy and in love. She has moved on from Adam. As we get into the story we find out that everything is not always what it seems. Will Adam and the others figure it out in time to help his Angel. This is not the only issue that the Warriors are facing. Adam,Jill and Steve need to start heavy training for the Warrior initiation. There is also something going on with the new mayor and his hatred of the half breeds. It doesn't help that Alice is his new fiancee either.
The friendship between the half breed warriors is something that Adam will need. Something they will all need in the very near future.

Let me say that I seriously want Jill or Lana or someone to rip out Alice's heart and stuff her head up her own ass. Okay, I know that seems violent but truthfully this.....person, i mean bitch, deserves everything she gets and then some...Somebody please take her out....Okay next thing, have I mentioned how much I adore these books? I think Teresa Gabelman is a freaking genius. Every single book I fall more for each one of these guys. I love them all, not one of them is easy. They all have something that just grabs me and will not let go. Adam has been fighting the attitude and his own demons from losing Angel. Yet he totally redeems himself, he is just as loving as the others. Each one brings laughter and love. Now with that said, the one thing I really hated about this book.... it freaking ended. I was cussing and yelling. Yup I admit it I threw a tantrum because I can't keep going. Totally pissed it ended.  I want Slade and Jill's story. I want to get to know Jax. I want to know if Caroline and Sloan are going to be anything. I want to know what happens next. I NEED to know....Please Ms. Gableman, write really really really fast because I NEED to know.... OH yeah this totally is worth 5 clocks....

About M. Robinson

M. Robinson loves to read. She favors anything that has angst, romance, triangles, cheating, love, and  of course sex! She has been reading since the Babysitters Club and R.L.  Stein.
She was born in New Jersey but was raised in Tampa Fl. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in psychology, with two years left.
She is married to an amazing man who she loves to pieces. They have two German Shepherd mixes and a Tabby cat.

 About Jettie Woodruff

Jettie Woodruff is a practicing physician and has been a Civil War buff for decades. No. Not really, she is not a doctor nor is she a Civil War buff. She is however a goof-off and has a hard time being serious for too long.
She does enjoy a challenge when it comes to her writing. She feels as though she needs to pull every emotion possible from her readers. She wants you to be pissed off, questioning your sanity, depressed, happy, and hopefully turn your mind from wanting to cut the villain into tiny little pieces to loving him by the end of the book.
Underestimated was her first dark endeavor. It was a goal alongside of writing a series, a standalone romance, a young adult, which she can’t check that one off. She tried she really did, but her mind just doesn’t work outside the gutter and it quickly became rated X.
Jettie lives on 163 acres in a rural part of Ohio. She loves living in Ohio, except maybe the snow, and the long winters, maybe the hot summers too, Ah, hell, she hates Ohio. She does love the land and the solitude of the country. She just wishes it was in a geographically in a better part of the country.
Jettie has two grown children and one who will be eighteen in a matter of days. YES!!! She has also recently just had her first, cutest ever, most adorable, granddaughter in the whole world. Her oldest daughter just hit her with the news that she will be adding another grandchild to the family in February. Although she is sure she will fall in love with the little creature, she still can’t say the G word.
Jettie enjoys reading as much as she loves writing. She has way too many favorites to list, but one of her all-time favorites from years ago was the Casteel series from V.C. Andrews. One of her new favorites is C.J. Robert’s, Captive series. Reading it gave her that needed push that she required to say the hell with what people think and write Underestimated.
By day Jettie is wearing business attire and managing a mattress store. By night she is in front of a keyboard or her Kindle, wearing, well let’s not go there. Underestimated was her fifth book published. The first one was just shy of a disaster, not that it was a bad book. People liked it. She just knew nothing about it, no revising, no editing, just a spur of the moment…. “Oh, I wrote a book, lets publish it.” Train wreck and a half. Her Star series was one of her favorites and is held dear to her heart. She is now working on an adult romance that should be live around the end of August, early September. She
can’t seem to stay focused on it at the moment, due to a much needed Bahamas vacation coming up with Adam Levine’s walking around half naked, buying her drinks.

The City by Dean Koontz.... Review by Kay

Synopsis

The city changed my life and showed me that the world is deeply mysterious. I need to tell you about her and some terrible things and wonderful things and amazing things that happened . . . and how I am still haunted by them. Including one night when I died and woke and lived again.

Here is the riveting, soul-stirring story of Jonah Kirk, son of an exceptional singer, grandson of a formidable “piano man,” a musical prodigy beginning to explore his own gifts when he crosses a group of extremely dangerous people, with shattering consequences. Set in a more innocent time not so long ago, The City encompasses a lifetime but unfolds over three extraordinary, heart-racing years of tribulation and triumph, in which Jonah first grasps the electrifying power of music and art, of enduring friendship, of everyday heroes.

The unforgettable saga of a young man coming of age within a remarkable family, and a shimmering portrait of the world that shaped him, The City is a novel that speaks to everyone, a dazzling realization of the evergreen dreams we all share. Brilliantly illumined by magic dark and light, it’s a place where enchantment and malice entwine, courage and honor are found in the most unexpected quarters, and the way forward lies buried deep inside the heart.

What Kay had to say....

"A heartwarming, feel good story with well developed characters and plot.  Dean Koontz has the wonderful ability to understand and present his characters; he makes each of them so real and believable with just the right mix of suspense and humor.  A great story that makes you consider some of the most thought-provoking themes of the human experience: faith, fate, loss, hate, and the power of love, goodness, and hope to overcome evil."

Hook Me by Chelle Bliss... Review by Dawn

Blurb

Michael Gallo found his calling in life – he wants to kick ass. He works at Inked as a piercer, but spends his mornings training and dreaming of winning an UFC championship. Michael is the road to achieving his goal when a chance encounter alters his world forever. The title is no longer enough – he must capture the woman of his dreams.

Dr. Mia Greco is dedicated to saving lives and helping those less fortunate. She doesn’t have time to meet Mr. Right with her busy schedule. She buries herself in her work and helping humanity. Fate steps in and sweeps the carpet out from under her. She tries to deny the pull to him, a man that uses his fists for gain, but the universe won’t let her walk away so easy and Michael isn’t one to take no for an answer.

He has a secret that may rip them apart. There are forces bigger than them at work; drawing them in and making their worlds collide – not letting either one of them walk away.

OK, I am going to start with, I want to call dibs on all the Gallo brothers! Oh, Kathy is gonna kill me.. Sadly, she has claimed them already.

Michael is just a fantastic addition to a series that is so much fun to read! Chelle Bliss, takes you into the Inked Tattoo shop, owned by the Gallo brothers and their only sister Izzy... I want to go there, I want to hang out with these people!
Michael was born to fight, it's in his blood... and he never loses! He was made for this. He gets the job done and then some. He loves the combat and winning... His weakness... Mia

Dr. Mia Greco, is an ER physician who has seen it all and it haunts her. Coming to her dreams nightly and making her life hell. The bright spot, spending her time volunteering at a local free clinic. She loves helping those who can not afford proper health care, it's her mission in life. Mia meets Michael when he comes into the ER with broken ribs.

" I think you need an x-ray to be sure you haven't punctured your lung. How did you do this anyway?"
"I had a fight and the guy kneed me in the rib cage."
She grimaced and sighed. "Men, I'll never understand them."
"Doc," I placed my hand over hers, stilling her movement before I got a tent in my pants. "It was a pro fight. I don't do street fights or bar room brawls."
"Not much difference in my eyes when someone ends up in front of me. Violence is violence to me."
I grinned at her. "Oh, come on. You've never hit someone?"
"Not unless I was defending myself." She puller her hands back and picked up the chart from the table next to the gurney.
"Well, I was defending myself from his damn knee," I laughed. "Ouch, fuck."
"Did you win?" Raising her eyebrows and cocking her head, she stared at me with parted lips.
I wanted to grab her and sweep my tongue inside her mouth. Show her how a real man does it. My strength wasn't only good in the ring, but I could hold her against the wall and make her dirty with barely any effort.
"I always win." I grinned , winking at her
"Cocky bastard," she muttered under her breath.
"My ribs hurt, but my hearing is fantastic, Doc."

It's banter like this that makes this series and book so much fun to read! I love the back and forth between Michael and Mia.
Mia is strong and throws herself into her work and makes not much time for anything else... like dating. Her friends hardly see her, she doesn't put much effort into her appearance and  meeting a man is not something she is interested in. Her friends decide she needs a "girls night out" and for once she is in agreement. So Mia, gets all decked out and hits the clubs with the gals... I swear I read this and immediately sent Kathy a screen shot and was laughing out loud!

"Would you ladies like a shot?" he asked, never taking his eyes off Sarah.
"Hell yes" she said, still wearing the dopey smile he'd given her.
"A toast," Lori said, as she raised her glass.
"May your love last thousand years but come in sic inch increments."
Clinking our glasses together , we laughed and downed the sweet strawberry liquid.
"Six seems a bit average, don't you think?" Jamie said, as she wiped her lips with the back of her hand.
"Hey, when you're getting zero, six seems like fucking king dong."

It's things like this that make me a very happy reader/fan.

One thing leads to another and Michael eventually wears Mia down and she accepts a date with him... and it is a amazing first date! The man could charm the pants off a nun!

The story is not all fun and games. There is Michael's CRAZY and I mean CRAY- CRAY ex Tammy. She lives in a world all her own. OH! and she happens to work at the same hospital as Mia... Yep, that makes for some interesting interactions. Tammy is a constant problem in Michael's life, she just will not accept that it was not serious on his part. She is living in "la-la land.." as far as he is concerned.

Mia, is devastated when Tammy plays the ultimate stalker/crazy card and Mia wants NO part of it... no matter what Michael says. She let her guard down and started falling for him, only to get slapped in the face.

I am not going on any further... YOU MUST read this book. It is the perfect blend of ... fun, drama, sex and heart.
The ONLY thing I wanted was Tammy to suffer a bit more.. But she was/is crazy and that just may be enough...

What I love most about this series is the Gallo family... the whole bunch! They come together, supporting each other, love one another . It is so refreshing to have a cast that is not dark and brooding throughout the whole book.  I LOVE Mamma Gallo... give that woman a grand child Please.. I am begging you... she is an amazing woman.

As I was finishing this book...Ms. Bliss gave us a snippet into the next book, Izzy's story. I read it and was "Chelle Shocked" (see what I did there?) I am ready to get my greedy hands on it... and the rest of the Gallo Men!

Hook Me, The Men of Inked book #2...Gets 5 clocks from me!!!!
