They say in order to find yourself you have to go home.
What if home was what you're running from?
Where did that leave you?
Always on the other side of the fence.
Always looking in.
Always wishing you were someone you couldn't be.
Until one day you meet her.
The one.
She was my high, but she was also...

My demise.

Colors blended together making it hard to focus on one thing. I blinked a few times and just like that…
I saw her face.
As if she was standing right in front of me.
Smiling.
Happy.
Laughing.
My whole world…
My girl.
I felt my lips curl up slightly at the vision as I reached out for her. Wanting to touch her, needing to hold her, yearning to kiss her. Craving, God, craving to fucking love her.
“I’m sorry,” I murmured out loud to no one but the illusion of my drug-infested mind. “I’m so fucking sorry,” I repeated repentantly, longing for her to believe me.
Aching for her to love me again like she used to.
I don’t know how long I sat there, staring at her beautiful face before my eyes, subconsciously rubbing the tattooed key that was placed over my heart. I couldn’t take it anymore, and the desire won over the haze.
It was too powerful.
It was too vivid.
I grabbed my phone. “Baby,” I said into the speaker. The ringing quickly followed, going straight to voicemail. I hung up and tried again. “Baby,” I urged with desperation in my tone.
Still nothing.
I tried again and again and again.
I would try until the end of time if that’s what it took for her to answer.
To talk to me.
To save me.
To crave me.
Time just seemed to standstill, as my life slowly played out in front of me. Trying to balance in between the light and the darkness when all I could see was gray.
“What?!” she screamed into the phone, finally answering after I don’t know how many failed attempts. “What the hell do you want now?”
“Mi cielo.” I breathed a sigh of relief.
She ignored my term of endearment. I hadn’t called her that in such a long time.
My heaven.
“What do you want, Austin? Why are you calling me? We’re over! I can’t do this anymore!”
I shut my eyes and let my mind wonder, allowing it to go to another place in time where she didn’t hate me.
“I remember the first time I made you smile,” I chuckled, as if it had just happened.
My nerves were on fire. The mere sound of her breathing through the phone was too intense for me. I licked my lips, my mouth suddenly dry.
“I remember when you used to smile just for me. Do you remember, baby? Do you remember what my love feels like?”
I heard her faintly breathing.
“Do you remember my hands on you? My lips? My tongue? The first time I made you come with my mouth? Do you remember all the times since? Tell me I’m not forgotten. Tell me you remember, baby.”
Silence.
“I love you, Briggs. I love you so fucking much. You’re killing me, don’t you see that? I’m dying without you.”
“No, Austin. You were dying with me,” she rasped, knowing that it killed her to say that.
“The first time I saw your face, I thought to myself, damn, this beautiful girl is goin’ to be the death of me. You were perfect in every way. I was a cocky son of a bitch who needed you then, as much as I need you now.”
More silence.
“I had a dream about you, baby. I always fucking dream about you. In my dream you had a ring on your finger. A ring I put there. You belonged to me. Only mine. Forever fucking mine. You were pregnant, Briggs. You looked so goddamn happy. I saw light at the end of the tunnel for the first time in years.”
She sniffled into the phone.
“I made love to you. Slow, just the way you love. Taking my time to touch every last inch of your body. Memorizing every last bit of you. Making you come until you begged me to stop. I didn’t.”
“I can’t—” she tried to interject, but I didn’t let up.
“I kissed your stomach. Our baby. Letting my lips linger there, whispering sweet lullabies, letting her know daddy will always be there. Baby, it was so real. For a second I gave you the one thing you so desperately wanted, the one thing I can’t give you.”

Dirty Dix and Wicked Dix: Hard Love Romance series books 1&2 by Monica James .... Reviewed by Dawn

I knew she was bad news when she walked into my office, but I just couldn’t help myself...

Filthy, sexy and full of surprises, Juliet is so hot she has me on fire. I’ve met my match and I can’t help going back for more.
Then there’s Madison… she’s sweet, funny and awakens in me a fierce need to protect her.
But I don’t do relationships. I don’t usually do the same woman twice.

Juliet and Madison: Two very different women have got me completely hooked.

Who will I choose?
I know who I should choose, but I never said I was the hero of this story, or even the good guy. And besides, who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?
My tale isn’t for the faint-hearted. If you’re game, strap yourself in and expect the unexpected. But don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Achingly sexy and highly addictive, Dirty Dix, the first in the Hard Love Romance series, will have you hooked.

I’ve always been a bad boy, with a very wicked reputation.

But then I met Madison – sweet, vulnerable, innocent Madison. She makes me feel as if there is hope for me. As if I could be a good man. I need her more than I need air to breathe.

There’s just one problem: Juliet. She’s a temptress who won’t take no for an answer. If I resist her, she’ll use our dirty secret to ruin everything with Madison. I don’t want to lose Madison, but can I really change?

This is my chance to prove that I can. But it’s going to be one hell of a ride. Are you ready?

I first had to go purchase Dirty Dix and read it first.. I LOVED IT. and that made me so excited for this one, Wicked Dix. Here I thought I was getting this story about a man whore and a shy girl... which, we get but boy does that change.

I will admit I hated Dix in the beginning.. what an awful human being.It is a bit hard to get past, how he treats women, but give a bit and see if you change your mind! The abuse of his position had me waiting and wishing for a few law suits.  As much as I hated Dixon,  Juliet takes the cake as worst woman ever written! What a complete piece of total dog crap!!! I mean I am getting mad just thinking about her.. Bravo Miss. James. When you can write a few characters that are the scum of the earth and evoke a reaction like that in me, well you just got yourself a fan!

Madison, Maddy... She just killed my heart! I hurt for her and wished she would have at least 5 minutes of peace in her messy life. I admire the writing that Miss James did when it came to Maddy. She had to seem weak , but also strong. She had to portray innocence that can sometimes come off as, "Oh, please no one is that clueless." But that was not the case in telling Maddy's story.
 I have to add, the secrets that both Dix and Maddy have are genuine and many people face these same issues. Dix and his sadness of his mother's passing and his issues with his father are a heart warming spot in this book. But Maddy's issues are deep and hard to read at times. I feel like this was told with respect to the characters. It really is a very loving story...

This was a fast read for me simply because I could not put the books down. I read them both in 2 days. I really hope Mary and Hunter get a book.. their banter is hilarious...

5 Stars from me... loved it.

Eli Davenport thinks he’s found the perfect woman to be his wife. She’s a doctor, like he is. She’s brilliant, like he is. And she’s wealthy, like he is. Guinevere ‘Gwen’ Poe thinks her fiance is the perfect man. He’s handsome, successful and he was her first… But when Eli’s bride runs off with Gwen’s fiance on his wedding day, they are left to pick up the broken pieces of each other…

My Review

So, um, yeah, I just read that in one setting! I loved it, seriously. It was so bright and fun! It takes this really ugly situation and makes you think this is going to be just drama filled and heavy... it could have went that way and it would have worked as well. But I would call this "drama lite" I mean that with great respect for this author. This was so refreshing and just made me feel good, Ms. McAvoy has a way of doing that to me. I will even go on record and say that her conversations between characters is without a doubt as strong as some the the most seasoned writers. I believer her, I can see this interaction playing out right in front of me. I just devour her books and I know that you will love "That Thing Between Eli and Gwen" it really is a fantastic story. From the jump you are thrown into this horrible happening and you want revenge right along with Gwen and Eli. I was filled with satisfaction when Gwen sends "the text" to Eli only to follow it with "kick his ass" INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!!!  I knew at 2% that I was hooked and would not be able to put this down... and I didn't until 4am, the chapter taglines alone will keep you going, as always they are spot on!

We get this amazing glimpse of what it is like to believe your world has fallen apart and what it takes to move on.Throwing himself into his work is Eli's outlet and he always needs to win or save the day. He has a hard time dealing with moving past his anger and seeing Gwen almost daily does not help his situation at all. For Gwen, she just wants to prove herself and move on, just get past this and never look back. Only one thing can stop her... The Contract to finish her work... she needs a project and Eli just might be it.

The friendship to relationship that these two strike up is just so needed. "Insta love" has its place (maybe) but seeing love grow between two people is something that this genre is missing. The originality of this story is a breath of fresh air! Ms. McAvoy tries to write each book in a different way and by God she succeeds every time. Her writing has this realness to it, it's real life, real love and sometimes those things can get messy and it's all about how you deal with the fall out... Is it worth it?

The last part of this story has a WHOPPER of a shocker! I did not see it coming and was like "what are you doing to my Eli and Gwen?" But, it works and although I was not happy about it, it was important to the story. Life and love are not always a bed of pretty red roses.

I really wish more people would seek out Ms. Mc Avoy's books, she is a bright and shining star in an genre that is bombarded with the "topic of the moment" books (step brother romances, ick NO!"  Her originality is probably favorite thing about her writing, you never get the same book twice. I want to see her soar! I believe she can, nay, I know she will!   Please go and search her  Amazon Author Page  take a chance on this amazing fresh young talent. I promise you will find something you love! I have read everything she has every published and I am NEVER disappointed.

Ruthless: A True Brothers MC Novel by Gillian Archer

Every girl needs a guardian angel—even if he wears black leather. In the first novel of her scintillating True Brothers MC series, Gillian Archer introduces readers to a sexy-as-sin biker . . . and the woman wild enough to tame him.

After dinner with the most arrogant man in the world, Jessica Miller is shocked when her blind date tries to maul her in the parking lot. Enter “Zag”: the brooding, bruising alpha male who jumps off his motorcycle and teaches the jerk a lesson he won’t forget. After getting one taste of a bad boy who lives on the edge, Jessica’s hooked. Zag’s willing to give her the ride of her life. But she needs to wrap her arms around his powerful chest and hold on—tight.

Zag knows firsthand that the True Brothers MC isn’t for the faint of heart. He only intends to show beautiful, innocent Jessica a few cheap thrills to satisfy her curiosity. But the more he lets her in, the more Zag comes to depend on her gentle touch to help heal the wounds that he’s been denying for so long. Now, a rival gang has set its sights on Jessica, and Zag must step up once again. He just hopes he can go the distance to protect the woman he loves.

I could not believe how fast I was engrossed in this book and how quick I read it.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica and Zag's story.
Fantastic plot and lead characters and the supporting cast, whom I am craving books about, were great!
Jessica made you believe that she really was that innocent ... and Zag, holy bad boy, but not so bad, bad boy!   His compassion made me love him. His need to protect Jessica and his biker brothers .
I am really excited to see what comes next in this series by Gillian Archer.

This is WAR baby by K. Webster

I need to type up my review of Pucked... I really enjoyed this book so much!

Honor Me and The Anatomy of Jane were advanced copies, so those reviews will come during the release blitz. It should be said, they BOTH are really really great books!

This is War baby, is just amazing! I have the review done and will share it below. I have book 2 in this series and I am about to start it, This is LOVE baby I can not wait to dive in.
It was a good book month for me!
~D~

This is War baby review!
~~~~~REVIEW~~~~
There are so many feelings this book brought out in me, I felt like I was losing my mind. You want to root for Baylee and you do, but you also love the "bad, good guy." See it's a premise that should not work, but MY GOD DOES IT WORK!
This is a true physiological dark romance book! Others tout themselves as such and fail miserably. I have my go to dark romance authors CJ Roberts, Pepper Winters, Aleatha Romig and the mind twisting, messing with my head Tarryn Fisher. I am now proud to say that Author K Webster is joining my favorites list.
I like to go in blind, I did not read the synopsis. I saw that was a dark romance and thought I would just dive in, and holy heck does it deliver from the go.
Baylee is this amazing and so incredibly strong character.  She is fighting to stay alive and avoid being hurt, it happens but she does what she has to, to survive. I probably would have done the same thing.  Her kidnapper really believes he loves her, he believes he is made for her. In his head they are meant to be together. I was even thinking that Baylee was going to fall in love and this was our "dark romance." But I knew, I had to believe that something was going to go right for this poor girl. There was no way this author was going to make me believe in this "love."
Then, we get War! OMG, this man, this man... He is just so twisted and just this emotional mess and we LOVE HIM FOR IT.  The many issues he is facing and how he ends up with Baylee make your heart thump a little harder, a little louder and the ache you feel...ohhhhhhhh, it's just so good. You are completely taken by this "bad, good guy." He knows what he is doing is wrong but he feels so much better with Baylee around. She is helping him deal with his deep seeded issues. I want to tell you everything but by doing that, I am denying you all the moments you need to experience when reading this amazing story.
Baylee, is not snowed by all things War, she is constantly plotting and keeping an eye out for true danger. She has seen true evil and knows that one day it will come knocking on her door. She must decided if she is going to crumble or wage WAR !
