Silent Whisper by Andrea Smith.... Review by Kathy

-Blurb-

Parrish Locke is 27 years old, a successful model with a gorgeous boyfriend, and a loft in Manhattan. Little does she know that during a photo shoot in Chester, West Virginia, an unfortunate car accident will change her life . . . forever. Parrish discovers she's gifted in a very special way, and thus begins a suspense-filled journey that unravels secrets and mysteries from the past. Once her journey ends, it is just the beginning for Parrish, because only she holds the key that will bridge the past to the present, and allow wrongs to be righted from beyond. From mafia capos, to steamy romance,to solving the unsolved, her journey is one that provides the blueprint for her future--one she never imagined possible.

I am going to start out by saying that I wanted to read this book but, honestly it was on my back burner. Dawn wanted to know what I thought of the book.  She wanted to know if I was going to review it, if not she was going to do it.
So while she was out of town I decided to go ahead and bump it on my list. Then while getting ready to read it,  I had a long conversation with my niece about the book. She wanted to know why I wanted to read it, my explanation was simply that it was an intriguing paranormal romance. I thought (wrongly) that it was just a "ghost" story, with  a romance in the background. Well smack me upside the head and call me stupid because this book was a SO very much more than that. In fact the paranormal was so in the background that I mostly forgot it.

"There's not one day that has gone by -not one- since the day I found you at Belle's that I've not thought about you. There are times to this day that I still ache for you because that's just how strong my love for you remains. nothing will ever change that."

"I was responsible for you, and I failed. I fucking failed."

This was not just some silly ghost story, it was a fabulous romance that crushed my heart and made me cry. It drew out feelings that I had no defense of, I was so caught up in the book that I was left with a sense of loss when it was over.
From the blurb you are thinking this is the story of Parrish, and in a way it is, but mainly this is the story of Dominic and Karlie.

This is about true love, the mob, and trust. Could you trust the man who says he loves you, but is married to someone else? Oh and his dad is the head of the Mafia family. Would you believe him when he says he will always choose you, over anything and anyone? Would you trust your love for him or would you always wonder? These questions haunt Karlie. There is so much I want to say here, but I hate spoilers.
I am the first person to say I hate cheaters. Dominic didn't feel like a cheater to me, he felt like a man in love. He was trapped in a relationship that was nothing more than appearances. (Trust me) He truly loved Karlie, he was in such an impossible situation. Let me say that this book is not what you are thinking it is, there are so many twists and turns. You will be shell shocked. You will be crying, You will be heartbroken. You will be surprised. You will want to bow down to ANDREA SMITH for her skills in writing a beautifully twisted, loving, slightly paranormal book. I so was not prepared for this book at all, and honestly I read so much I usually am not all that shocked about things in books. This one took all my expectations and slammed them on the floor, stood up and smirked at my stupidity and showed me what an amazing writer can do with words. If I could give you more than 5 clocks I would do so in a heartbeat. I am still reeling from the book. I will be one of the first people in line to get the second in this series. Hopefully it comes out soon.

Ohhhhh and a great big THANK YOU to DAWN for introducing me to not only this book/series but to Ms. Andrea Smith, now I have to go read all her books. I see why you have been trying to get me to read her for so long....
