Cabin Fever by Rye Hart ...... Review by Dawn

Cabin Fever: A Mountain Man Romance

Mr. Dreamy saved my life.
Now, he's staring at me like I'm his prey.
The temperature outside may be subzero.
But the heat between us is dangerously high.
Cabin fever has never felt this good.

Liam:
Whitney was scared and alone.
And f*cking stunning.
I may have given society the finger
But, then I saw the goddess hurt and helpless.
And, my inner beast went into overdrive.
Now, it's just the two of us, alone in my cabin.
And, I'm finding it hard to resist her lips.
Her eyes tell she wants it too.
Meeting Whitney was chance.
Letting her go just isn't an option.
The Navy did a number on me - but I know damn well that won't ruin the best thing to happen to me.

Review!
Well, this was a new author for me and I did enjoy the story but there were problems.

I do not see Gatlinburg, Tennessee as the wilderness, it's just not.
Some of the verbiage used during the sex scenes were different. I even screen shot it and sent it to my husband saying "well, that is a new way of saying it." Everything just a bit off, it that makes sense.
I love this kind of story, mountain man saves city girl who gets lost. It had all the bones just not the skin to keep it together.
I liked Liam and I thought Whitney was cute and sassy, but even that couldn't keep it flowing. With Whitney being portrayed as "lost because she quit a job she hated." And again when she leaves Liam, she was always a mess that needed fixed. That bugged me.
But Liam, his PTSD was another miss. Seems all he needed was a woman. When she was there is was OK and when she was gone, not so fine.
I just needed more and this had the structure for that. But in the end it fell flat.

Redneck Romeo by Xavier Neal ...... Review by Dawn

Redneck Romeo (The Culture Blind #1)

A small town man.

A big city woman.

A star-crossed love affair that begins in paradise...

What starts as five days of fun in the sun leads to two people traveling down an emotional dirt road.

Down a highway paved with good intentions but full of unpredicted roadblocks.

Will the tumultuous track they take ultimately tear them apart, leaving their lives in a tattered tragedy, or will they manage to survive and tie their souls together for a life time?

Review~

Loved it! The diversity of the characters and the trials they face for just falling in love, made this a one sitting read. Started at 6am finished at 1pm!!!
Please do not let the title (ugh, I am not a fan) deter you , this is a great story.
I even feel like this is an important book! The subject of interracial romance is often left out and we need more of it! This one is just beautiful,
When you find the one you know and even if your family is against it and you can't shake the feelings. Do you go against everything you've been told all your life ? Or do you follow your heart and see where love leads you?

Red by Kim Jones....... Review by Dawn

Red

Red is living life in the spotlight, a place she always dreamed of. Stripping was a way of escaping from her past, and it was something she was well-known for. But, Red’s fight to remain queen isn’t the only battle she’s facing. And when the war against her addiction is won, it’s not in her favor.

Facing three to five years in a federal penitentiary, Red feels like her life is over. But just like he always does, Luke Carmical, her childhood best friend, comes to the rescue. Only this time he’s brought the Devil’s Renegades member Regg with him. Having no other option, Red is forced to spend the next ninety days in a place she’s never been and in the care of a man she hardly knows.
Spending three months of her life on a secluded farm turns out to be a lot more than Red bargained for. Because, it’s there that Regg stands by her side through endless hours of withdrawal, constant mood swings and restless pacing. It’s there that the MC family reminds her of their motto: love, loyalty and respect. And it’s there she learns that hitting rock bottom, doesn’t keep you from falling...in love.

Review~

OMG! I loved this story. I love RED and Reg... and just all of it.  Seeing Red and Reg fall and the journey it takes you on is nothing short of heart wrenching. You could feel the pain Red was going through during detox. You could feel the pain of Reg watching her go through it. Watching them fall for each other was simply beautiful mixed with Kim Jones humor, it was such a fun read!
The twists and turns that this story takes you on feels like it is giving you a peek into the lives of friends fighting for each other and stopping at nothing for those they love!
This is just another book by KJ that I love and will read over and over!

Maxwell: Brothers Ink Tattoo series by Nicole James.....Review by Dawn

Maxwell (Brothers Ink, #2)
Malee was sheltered all her life,
Until the day she walked into Brothers Ink
Lucky for her… he’s waiting.

She’s naïve and wary.
But that’s okay…
Maxwell O’Rourke is a patient man.
Some things are worth waiting for.

He’s nothing Malee ever thought she’d want, but everything she needs.
He makes her feel beautiful and worthy, even as he makes her burn with desire.

When an overprotective father with deep-rooted family traditions tries to come between them, she’ll have to make some hard choices. And she’ll have to be ready to face the consequences.

And just how far is Maxwell willing to go for the girl who owns his heart?

Review~

I am sad to say, this was not a hit for me. I felt it had beautiful aspects but I just did not get swept away or wrapped up in Maxwell and Malee.  I just could not connect with these two and I loved Max in Jameson's story. I just found this to be slow and the parts I did love so much Malee and her Aunt's relationship, were few and far between. I like the deaf aspect of it. Max learning how to communicate with Malee, that was heart warming.
This was a 3 clock read for me and I hate saying that because I love Nicole James but this was a miss for me.

The Hone-Don't List by Christina Lauren ....... Review by Dawn

The Honey-Don't ListCarey Duncan has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.

James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus.

Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…

From the “hilariously zany and heartfelt” (Booklist) Christina Lauren comes a romantic comedy that proves if it’s broke, you might as well fix it. (less)

REVIEW~
It is so refreshing to finally get a story that has a leading man with a maturity level that is above a 12 year old boy! James, is a good guy and so smart, which we don't always get to see in romance books. He is so swoon worthy and I just loved him. Carey, is a little bit of a mess. She has very low self confidence and thinking she could never make it on her own tend to bring her down. Not realizing that she is in fact the one who keeps everything together. James and Carey's journey to falling in love is so sweet and crazy considering everything that Rusty and Mel are doing to each other.

I sometimes felt that Rusty and Mel's drama over shadowed James and Carey. It often felt that there were 4 main characters and two of them I could have done without. Rusty and Mel made me sad and I have never really felt this way with a Christina Lauren book. BUT, I do feel like "I get it." Love can grow from some of the ugliest circumstances. We see one story end and one love story begin, and that is the beautiful part of this book

Temper Book 3 Knights Fury Series by Chantal Fernando........ Review by Dawn

Every year, the hot, tatted biker comes into Abbie’s bar, orders whiskey, and asks her out. Every year, Abbie turns him down. After all, dating a man that goes by Temper seems like a really bad idea, no matter how attracted she is to him.

But this year is different. Abbie’s different. Older, wiser, and tired of being stuck behind the bar in a sleepy town. This year, she’s ready for whatever adventure the sexy but sweet biker has in store for her.

Or so she thinks…until an elegant candlelit dinner ends with a dead body.

Now, Abbie finds herself on the ride of her life, whisked away to the big city in Temper’s protective custody. She should be scared but—despite his nickname—it’s clear the last thing Temper would ever do is hurt a hair on her head. And when danger catches up with them, Abbie soon realizes that holding tight to her man while straddling a Harley may be the safest place of all.

I LOVE THIS STORY! I just love the connection that Temper and Abbie had. The history they shared and the never giving up on Temper's part...just so swoon worthy.
I felt his anguish when he had to take drastic measures and kidnap Abbie. In a split second it went from a dream date to a nightmare.
I just loved the story telling and how the women rallied when they found out what the men had done. I loved the friendships that blossomed.  Her relationship with Temper grows and she starts to see that he is responsible for more than just riding motorcycles. I enjoyed seeing the ins and outs of the MC and of course their love story.
The twists and turns Abbie took, finding her father and finding out what he did for a living was a surprise that I did not see coming and I love when a story does that!
I really enjoy this series and can't wait to see what happens next.
