Under The Northern Lights by SC Stephens....... 4.5 Star Review

Mallory Reynolds is a driven woman fueled by her passion for photographing wild animals in remote locations. Every year she makes a trek deep into Alaska, but this time the unthinkable happens: she crash-lands after her plane stalls out in a storm. Injured, vulnerable, and threatened by the very creatures she loves, Mallory fears the worst—until she’s rescued by Michael Bradley, a mysterious mountain man living in self-imposed exile.
Mallory is grateful for Michael’s help but desperate to return home to let her family know she’s alive. Unfortunately, neither of them can leave Michael’s secluded cabin until spring. Mallory’s stuck with a stranger for months.
As Mallory recovers, a deep bond begins to form between the pair. Mallory is convinced that fate brought them together, but Michael is buried in his past, unable to move forward. Undaunted, Mallory tends to Michael’s heart as tenderly as he cared for her wounds—but will her love be enough to heal him?

Dawn's Review

SC Stephens, is a go to author for me, so naturally I went into this not knowing what to expect.  First thing, I went to Colorado over Christmas and I am so glad that I did not read this before my flights.   As a wildlife photographer, one has to go to where the wildlife is and for Mal, that was Alaska. Alone and with a plan she sets out to capture these creatures in their natural habitat. Danger is waiting an unsuspecting Mallory, but she forges on, into the sky.
The plane crash was told in vivid detail and you really were afraid for Mallory. But yet I applauded her spirit to go and live her dream. Facing death with little more than her backpack, gun and her faith, Mal, has to survive one night and then go in search of help.
Michael, is a social recluse and all alone in his Alaskan wilderness. Tired of the world and it's people constantly letting him down Michael, leaves a career as a physician and the streets of New York. He is on a mission to have little to no contact with people again.  His reasoning is solid, in his mind and he believes he is far enough out to accomplish just this. Until, one day he sees smoke rising into the Alaska wilderness . He sets out to see what has interrupted his exile. Finding Mallory, hurt and in danger, he rescues her from the very wilderness that they both love so much.
I would classify this story as NA to YA story more along the action and adventure line. There is innuendo, but nothing graphic. This is a beautiful story of two people in dire circumstances that lean on each other as a way to survive. Both Michael and Mallory, are injured in different ways. Michael, is broken by a single  traumatic event in his life 5 years ago.  And Mallory, her body is beaten and she is away from everyone she loves and is worried about her family thinking she is dead. Her spirits are low but her faith never weavers.
This story for me, was about finding your courage and strength you didn't know you had. It's about overcoming things keeping you from your happiness. Choosing to live when it would be easy to just lay down and die. Faith, plays a big role in this story and it was quite refreshing to see a book with a clear message, that was not beating it down your throat.

Kings of Mayhem by Penny Dee Review by Dawn

When a King loves
He loves hard
CADE

I’ve loved her since we were five years old.
We grew up side by side.
Two kids tied together by the Kings of Mayhem Motorcycle Club.
But I broke us.
I broke her.
So, she fled.
Now she’s back after twelve long years.
And I’m going to show her all the reasons why we should be together and make her forget all the reasons why we shouldn’t.
INDY
I’m back in town but only because I have to be.
I’m here to help my mom bury my father.
And the sooner we get it done, the better.
Because I want to see Cade as much as I want a hole in the head.
He broke me once—no, he broke my everything— and I’ll be damned if I’ll let him do it again.
Get in and get out.
That is the plan.
But you know what they say about best-laid plans.

Dawn's Review

This was my first Penny Dee read and I am a fan. I loved that she included a Path of Family , this very handy in an MC story as there are many players . This is the first book in the Kings of Mayhem series Cade and Indy's story. I loved the family dynamic of this story. Best friends since the age of 5 to , young love to heart break.  Cade, broke Indy's heart on the night before they were set to leave for college and Indy ran.....
12 years later she is back in town for the first time since Cade broke her. In town to bury her father, her plan...get in and get out. Well, Cade, has other plans.

This story flow was great, easy to follow and totally addictive. This is gearing up to be a really great new MC series. Like I had mentioned, this is book 1 so there are many introductions to different characters and rival clubs. So there is a lot of emotion and facing the past, as it is written in "then and now" fashion. You get the back story of Indy and Cade, and it is handled just right. It does not go on for page after page. It is enough of a backstory that you get why the emotions are running so high.
The Club business is intertwined a little throughout the story, but the ending is where you get the set up for where the club is going and the drama that is going to follow.
This really has me wanting to read more of the series.

Good Time by Jana Aston......... Review by Dawn

Good Time by [Aston, Jana]
Marrying a stranger tops the list of things you should never do in Las Vegas, but I did it anyway.
The entire night was my idea. I was the one who suggested a wake-up-with-a-tiger kind of night. Instead, I woke up with a ring on my finger and Vince Rossi in my bed.
Vince, who was nothing like I thought he was and everything I never knew I needed.

Suddenly I was falling head-over-heels in love with my accidental husband and the idea of ending this union was the last thing I wanted.
I wanted forever.

So what if we barely knew each other? Statistically speaking, our odds were as good as anyone’s.

Until the annulment papers landed on my doorstep…

Dawn's Review

Long time reader, first time reading Jana Aston and I am hooked! I loved this book so much! It was such a fun read. I read a lot of heavy darker books. I was looking for something to make me laugh and a quick easy read, Good Time delivered.

I was literally giggling and LOLing at 4am. I really enjoyed Payton's quick whit and hilarious inner monologue. Her habit of making up words and using them in normal conversation, right along with her using words at the wrong time, had me rolling. Payton, is a woman who knows what she wants and it not afraid to say it, even if it is unintended. She believe's in laying it all out there and letting the chips fall as they may. When presented with an opportunity to spend the evening doing Vegas, with 3 men, 2 whom she works with and one who she wants...Vince. This is not the first time Payton has laid eyes on him and claimed him as her "future husband and baby daddy." But it is the first time she gets to let Vince, know she is giving him a "fast pass" to all things Payton. The only question is, does Vince want the golden ticket?

Vince Rossi, is the owner of a strip club in Vegas. You know the type, fat, greasy, stale cologne...that guy. Well, Payton was sure in for a surprise when Mr. Sex on a Stick, walks in and introduces himself as the owner of said strip club. Vince, is mysterious and so very inviting to Payton. He is shocked with her "hold nothing back" kind of attitude, shocked that she is putting it all out there. When he agrees to be apart of the rouse to get Lydia (Patton's bestie) and one of his customers together, little did he know it would change his life. A simple game of A or B leads to a marriage Vegas style and a wife that has disappeared the next day!

The hilarity that ensues between, Payton, Vince, Canon, Mark and Lydia, is top notch. Canon, being the maid of honor and taking it upon himself to hack all of Payton's info, had me cackling. Payton, making Girl Trooper badges for Lydia, as she is discovering her sexual desires, had me in a giggling fit. Mark, is Payton's work husband and their banter and playing off each other, was so much FUN! While reading this story I send a message to my friend and told her that it reads like any conversation that I would have with her or my life long best friend. I literally pictured myself saying 90% of the dialogue.

This is a super fun read and I highly recommend it!
