Who doesn't love a bad boy? I mean, I know I sure do and let me just tell you that Brenda and Chelle have given us such good bad boy! I am totally in love with Nix! But lets not leave Kennedy, aka Eva outta this love fest! I am girl crushing hard on her, SHE IS A SPY! Dude, a kickass chick who is a spy. I mean come on, that is not something you read everyday.
I am not sure how it is done once, but to have lightening strike twice? That is how special the chemistry is between these two authors. Dirty Work was so good and worked so well, how can they top that? But man do they in Dirty Secret. This story is so seamless, you can not tell who is writing what part, and I LOVE THAT! The story just flows with no hick ups, nothing is lacking. I can't say " I wish there was more of this ... and less of that." This book is the total package, drama, sexiness, love, angst, betrayal and forgiveness. I am such a fan of the Rothert/Bliss collaboration sign me up for more!!!!
Kennedy is on a mission, a mission to prove that she is more than the illegitimate daughter of a disgraced Senator. She has always been kept secret and now she has taken on a job where secrecy is key. Working for Greenlight as a secret agent, means she gets to be whomever she wants to be while taking down drug dealers and arms smugglers. She is getting in deep when she meets the elusive Phoenix "Nix" Ash, hacker extraordinaire. He is the key, the key to the big dogs, with him being one himself. But will Kennedy be able to survive getting close to Nix? Will she make it out alive and with her heart still in tact?
Phoenix "Nix" Ash, he is calm cool and collected and he never gets caught. Being a black hat hacker is just one of his many talents. He can rob you blind and never bat an eye. He can move money around and hide it so that it is never found, with just a few keystrokes. He is intrigued by Kennedy the first time he sees her in a blue wig and playing with her lip ring. Nix knows she is up to something but he can't quite put all the puzzle pieces together and figure it out. Is it worth it to risk his freedom to get to know her? Does she have secrets like he does? What is the price they will pay if they choose give in and let it happen?
I LOVED this story so much! I mean it, I was so wrapped up in every detail, every word. I devoured it, reading it all in one setting. The need to know just how this would play out, overtook my need for sleep and food. I loved Nix and Kennedy's dynamic, they were explosive. The heat that these two produced could be felt coming off the pages. The struggle for power, who had the upper hand, who was calling the shots, who would give in first. JUST SO GOOD! I can not give it away, but when the pooh hits the fan, I was just dying to see how it would be handled. As per the usual it was handled perfectly and just like I wanted it to be. I have to say one of my most favorite parts (and there were many) was the exchange between Coco and Kennedy! I laughed so hard during their brief but so very important encounter.
I want to take a second and tell you that this is a SUPER SEXY story. Like grab your man and give him some lovin' kind of HOT! I was thoroughly pleased with the steamy scenes in this story and wow, did it make me a major Nix fan!
I am dying to see more collaborations between these two authors. I feel like "it anin't broke don't fix it." This is a writing match made in haven!!!
